EQUITY was founded in 2020 by the leaders of UNITE HERE Local 1, Chicago’s Hospitality Workers’ Union. In the Union, we learn labor organizing. We learn to move our co-workers to fight the boss. We win - high wages, free health insurance, a real pension and above all, respect. At EQUITY, we imagine how the community of hospitality workers, both those in the Union and those who aren’t, can grow and thrive when we take those same labor organizing skills from the shop floor to our neighborhoods.
